BEST Kindergarten (Elmina, Shah Alam)
Cubs and Urie Bronfenbrenner
“The surrounding environment impacts the development of a child” is Urie Brofenbrenner’s belief. Supporting this theory and adapting Urie Brofenbrenner’s Ecological systems theory, Cubs Early Years Elmina has brought this approach into their homerooms allowing for the Early Year learners to adapt to the ever changing environment post pandemic. The approach to learning with the Cubs Early Years programme creates situations that allow for adaptability, with lessons being geared towards children’s ability to be exposed, curiosity to explore and the confidence to express in three languages. The programme further enhances the child’s relationship with themselves, their families, their community and the world.
Children experiencing the Cubs Early Years programme is made to understand that Mathematics, Science, English, Bahasa Melayu and Mandarin is found all around them and not only in their homerooms or subject base. All the above is expressed in the experiences they have in their homerooms which allows the learners to communicate on a level far advanced then the average expectation of parents.
CEY Elmina is further enhanced by the D Jungle Juniors Programme that focuses on bringing the outside experience inside. These outdoor facilitators allow our learners to better understand what nature has to offer and also the importance and ability to adapt to the different environments. A large tree house, pool and a large play area was designed to benefit the learners to the fullest. The teachers were handpicked with the intention to ensure that programme delivery, love and the responsibility of nurturing is done with the quality expected to win this award.
