Recently, for my daughter’s 10th birthday, she received a birthday gift, which is very useful and pretty at the same time. It is the Ergo-Growing Kids Study Desk and Chair Set. We are both very pleased with the gift, which is pink in colour. I was impressed with the good workmanship and robust build. The whole set feels and looks premium, and no doubt will be able to last through the years, as it is supposed to grow with your child from preschool to high school, 4 to 18 years old to be exact! More importantly, it looks and feels like it can withstand the daily wear and tear.
I have heard of ergonomic tables and desk sets but have not put much research or thought into them due to the high cost. To me, having a normal study setup or a table and chair is good enough. But after we have the Ergoworks desk set, I can truly see the difference. The ergonomic features really do come into play in promoting good posture. My daughter no longer slouches or bends her head down when she is doing her homework or studying. She sits comfortably on her pretty pink chair that comes with lumbar support, which has been adjusted to her height. The breathable, airy mesh back is just right for our hot and humid weather. Even after sitting for long hours, it does not feel hot, and it does not feel like there is any strain on her spine. As she loves sitting at her own workstation working on craft projects for long hours, the chair is really helpful.
As for the desk, it is spacious and sturdy. The tabletop is big enough for her to do her homework with some space for textbooks. There is also a large drawer for her to put and organise all her stationery and other work materials. Another cool feature that we are in love with is the incremental tiltable tabletop, which is very useful, especially when she is drawing and reading. This feature comes in handy too when she is using her tablet. She can easily adjust the tiltable table to her preferred height and comfortable eye level, and there will not be any need for her to bend her head down, which will strain her neck and affect her posture. On top of the desk, there are some cute shelves that she uses to keep the workstation organised and clutter-free. On the side of the desk, there is a knob for her to hang her schoolbag or tuition bags, so everything is just within her reach. The main feature of this table is the adjustable height. At first, we thought it would be troublesome to adjust the height, having to remove the items on the table, and a screwdriver or an Allen key is needed. But to our surprise, all you need to do is turn the handle on the side next to the knob. It is smooth and easy to turn, so easy that my daughter can do it herself. This cannot be made any easier. Finally, we like that the edges and corners of the desk are rounded, making it safe from any angle.
To move the desk around in her room as we were looking for the perfect spot, it was really easy as well, as the Ergoworks desk comes with a set of rear wheels hidden under the desk stand. All we needed to do was a little push and turn. There was no lifting at all!
Overall, we are both very happy and impressed with the Ergo growing desk and chair set. It is like a study workstation that this was made specially for her, following her growth and height at every stage. Having this will definitely help her in building and maintaining a healthy posture as she grows. This is the best birthday gift she has ever received.
