Anyone who has been to Bangsar Village 1, an affluent shopping mall situated in Bangsar, has surely come across an alluring and inviting toy store named Janie & Joe. The award-winning store once again made news when it bagged the category of Toy Store in the BabyTalk & MamaPapa Readers’ Choice Awards 2020.
That’s not all, for one more of its esteemed brands also picked up an award for the Educational Toy category, and that is the Melissa & Doug Dust, Sweep & Mop!
Valuing their customers has always been the number one priority at Janie & Joe. “Our vision for the store was to create the dream playroom for children, instead of filling our space with racks and racks of toys. We have a fantastic seating area for toddlers where they can try out toys. Many of our customers comment on how cosy and homely our store feels!” founder Sue shared during a chat with BabyTalk recently. As for their online customers, the staff at Janie & Joe work hard to provide a pleasant “virtual” shopping experience with timely responses to queries and fast delivery.
Humbled by her toy store’s success in bagging the awards in the two coveted Toy Store and Educational Toy categories, her message to our readers was, “Thank you for this honour, from the bottom of our hearts!”
“We’re a small business and we really value our customers. Winning these awards has inspired us to go the extra mile and to offer quality educational toys that help children develop and grow while having lots of fun,” she quipped.
Janie & Joe was set up in Bangsar Village in 2013. As a parent herself, Sue felt frustrated by the lack of quality educational toys in the country back then. She had visited many toy fairs around the world to seek out the very best brands that offer quality, long-lasting toys which are fun and educational. Fast-forward from the time Janie & Joe was established, she now has a loyal customer base and has been privileged to see the store’s young customers grow.
Staying true to their beliefs and principles, prioritising their customers will always be at the forefront of everything they do at Janie & Joe. The store has also just been renovated for a more pleasant shopping experience. “We’ll be adding some exciting new ranges and new toy brands to give our customers even more choice!” she revealed to us.
In today’s stiff market competition in premium toy stores as well as children’s educational toys, Sue aims to keep prioritising her customers and to place them at the forefront of what they do at Janie & Joe. “We’ll continue to listen to them and to respond to their needs.”
When COVID-19 hit, the popular toy store put a lot of work on their online business. Customers can purchase products from Janie & Joe to be delivered anywhere in Malaysia, or even overseas!
“It has been a very interesting 8 years. We’ve experienced many changes but one thing is constant, children are the most precious things on earth and they deserve to learn and develop and be allowed freedom to play. That’s the Janie & Joe philosophy!” Sue concluded.
