The Modern Nursery Furniture That Grows With A Child

When it’s time to furnish a nursery or child’s room, it’s all too easy to be taken in and get carried away by all those lovely furniture available out there. Often enough though, their high appeal far outweighs their longevity and once your child starts to grow, you might find yourself having to shop again for more age-appropriate furniture.

Why not look for furniture that will grow with your child instead? The key is to look for items that you’ll be able to keep for years to come, and here, we feature three such examples.

Baby cots/cribs
One may not think of a crib as a possible piece of furniture that will last in terms of usefulness. Many popular brands of cots have been designed to be disassembled and reassembled through the various stages of a child’s growth. This convertible ability allows the item to be transformed from a baby cot to a small toddler bed. Some can be further converted into a study table and even a teenager’s daybed.

When choosing a baby cot, find out all the key features when it comes to its possible future uses and of course, ensure that it upholds the required safety standards.

Changing tables
Often dubbed as a highly luxurious and unnecessary nursery item, changing tables too have come a long way in terms of longevity and objective of uses. Meant for diaper-changing comfort, changing tables often come with drawers meant to hold diapers, lotions, creams, and all other diaper-changing items.

Those drawers or open shelving areas can be still used as your child grows. and now, you can even find convertible versions of changing tables which become bookcases or even small desks when they’ve outlived their use as a changing table.

Highchairs
We all mostly know high chairs to be a chair for babies, complete with harness and a tray, so that the little one can be seated comfortably and safely with the rest of the family at the dining table.

Many are now multifunctional and can be adjusted to suit a baby’s comfort. Different pieces of the high chair that can be adjusted include:

  • Height of the chair       • Recline of the seat
  • Height of the tray         • Footrest height

Nowadays, there are highchairs designed to further their purpose by converting into a small kids’ chair, or even a chair and table. It’s almost the same as buying new pieces of furniture!

When choosing a high chair for your baby, do also ensure it adheres to standard safety guidelines other than being easy to use and to clean too.
